At Bigfoot Leonberger Ranch, we take puppy placement very seriously. Our goal is to ensure that each Leonberger puppy is matched with a family that fits their temperament, lifestyle needs, and long-term well-being. This means we do not place puppies based on looks alone but rather through a structured temperament evaluation and careful selection process.
Every family must complete a puppy application followed by a phone interviewso we can understand your lifestyle, experience level, and expectations.
Temperament Testing (7 Weeks Old) – Each puppy undergoes a structured temperament evaluation where we assess:
Confidence & independence
Energy levels & activity needs
Socialization tendencies
Response to handling, new experiences, and problem-solving
Family Matching & Placement – Based on our evaluations, we match each puppy to the most suitable home, considering:
Activity Level – Matching high-energy puppies with active homes and calmer puppies with laid-back families.
Family Structure – Whether you have kids, other pets, or specific lifestyle needs.
Experience Level – Some puppies require experienced handlers, while others are ideal for first-time owners.

Across the U.S., the average adoption investment for a well-bred Leonberger ranges between $3,500 and $5,000, depending on:

✔ Health Testing & Veterinary Care – All parents are fully health-tested, and puppies receive early veterinary care.
✔ Lifetime Breeder Support – We provide guidance, mentorship, and a strong support network for our puppy families.

🐶 How to Get on the Waitlist & Reserve a Puppy:
✔ Step 1: Submit a Puppy Application → Apply Here
✔ Step 2: We will contact you for a phone interview after reviewing your application.
✔ Step 3: Upon approval, you will be placed on our official waitlist (first come, first served, based on application order).
✔ Step 4: Once the puppies are born, waitlisted families receive exclusive private birth announcements before the public.
✔ Step 5: Approved waitlisted applicants will have the first opportunity to place a deposit and sign the contract to finalize their reservation.
✔ Step 6: Puppies will be ready for their new homes at approximately 8 weeks old (mid-May 2025).
💡 Important Notes:
🔹 Deposits will NOT be collected until after the puppies are born so we can ensure availability and gender distribution.
🔹 Waitlisted applicants get first priority to place deposits and reserve puppies before any public availability.
🔹 If any puppies remain after the waitlist group has placed their deposits, we will announce availability to the public.

2. Adoption Fee: At Bigfoot Leonberger Ranch, our AKC registered Leonberger puppies are raised with the utmost care and attention. We offer a sliding scale for adoption fees based on the age, male/female, and training level of each puppy. Contact us for specific pricing.
Older puppies, who have received additional vaccinations, are crate-trained, potty-trained, and have begun basic obedience training (commands such as "sit" and "come"), are priced higher due to the extra care and training invested. For puppies older than 14 weeks, please contact us for specific pricing, which starts at $4500 and may vary based on the puppy's age and training progress.
3. Pickup Date:
Puppies are of age to go to their forever homes. The exact pickup date will be determined and communicated by the Breeder. We offer flexible pickup to work with your schedule. Additional fees to cover food/housing/additional vaccines/vet appointments may apply depending on if lengthy extension on pickup is needed.

4. Health Guarantee:
The puppy are current on all vaccinations and will have undergone a comprehensive veterinary health check prior to pickup. The results of this health check will be provided to the Adopter at the time of pickup.
